To be honest, I didn't realize that I would get so much attention from some of the art I've done this past year. Either I did something right or something so wrong it was unexpected, since controversy seems to be one of the best forms of publicity, if my sonic boom character what-ifs are any indication. 2014 was very much an up & down kind of year, mostly on the family side of things but really, theres only so much one can do to make people happy. Especially when they know only so much about art.
Self-advertizing, portfolio preparing, and now voice recording. So much to start on with so little time to do any of it on a professional basis, it becomes very discouraging when your family doesn't really get it most of the time. Working on Fiona Frightening and the Wicked Wardrobe with and the rest of our new little development family has been a joy to participate in so far, as its been the drive that makes me feel like I'm doing something actually productive thats noticeable, despite it being something we won't know how much its financially worth yet until later on. To me its something really big in many ways, considering how closely I've been working with our director, and how much he's allowing me to put my own influence into his creation.
Seriously I feel like I'm on the lines of an assistant art developer by now or something.
However, while my priorities are being focused on this soon-to-be marvellous indie-platformer, thats not to say my new years resolution was ignored. I promised myself to not only work as hard as my sanity would allow on Fiona Frightening, but to also FINALLY start doing more legit portfolio work on the side so that I may present myself to actual studios & companies in the industry down the line, mainly of my original content.
Because, not only am I going to make the effort to design a legit 2D animation reel as my big reveal of my original creation...
Seriously this will no doubt be my most productive year yet, and I can only hope it will be worth it in the long run. So once again Happy New years to all, God bless thee, and have a safe little holiday!
