Field ability: After curling himself into a ball, Mario uses his hammer to whack Phillip in front of him to hit out-of-reach switches, retrieve distant items and even hit enemies. Mario can also repeatedly knock Phillip into certain obstacles to weaken or destroy them by pressing the Z button again when he returns to him.

“A misfit, bronze coloured Tap-tap who was constantly overshadowed by the other Tap-taps due to his dull spikes, making him easier to be attacked. Often called “Phillip the Failure” because of this, he wonders if he will ever be useful. It wasn’t until Mario was able to rescue him from capture that he found his importance and decided to join him on his adventure. Mario discovers him in Chapter 1 and is the partner that specializes in attacking ground enemies"

Attacks:
Rammer – Attacks one ground enemy by rolling into it.

Plow Through 3FP – Charges across the stage, bowling over all ground enemies.

Titanium Tap 5FP – Hides Mario in a steel dome, that resembles a spiny shell, to protect him from all attacks for a limited time. However, it prevents him from making any other commands.

Rime Coating 3FP – Incases himself in a layer of ice to give him an Ice element, which lets his normal attacks have a 8/10 chance of freezing enemies to immobility for a limited time.
